Montana 4-H Shooting Sports events provide 4-H Shooting Sports members with opportunities to participate in fun and educational competitive matches in archery, air rifle, air pistol, and small bore rifle.  The State Shoot is open to all 4-H members enrolled in these disciplines, and is also the qualifying event for teens (14+) hoping to compete at the National 4-H Tournament in air rifle, air pistol, or small bore.  Archery and other disciplines have separate qualifying matches.

Montana 4-H Shooting Sports Qualifying Events

The following events serve as the qualifier to participate in the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational in June.

Age Requirements - Participants must have passed their 14th birthday by January 1 of the current year and may not have passed their 19th birthday before January 1 of the current year in which the 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships are held.

Montana 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational

The Montana 4-H State Shooting Sports competition is typically held in Bozeman the first weekend in March.  This is the qualifying event for Smallbore and AirGun disciplines.

Bitterroot Archers

The Bitterroot archery tournament is traditionally held in mid to late February in Montana's Bitterroot Valley.

Carbon County Archery

The Carbon County Archery 4-H Club will host a 10-meter Indoor Archery Shoot on TBD.

Cascade County Shooting Sports Archery Invitational

The Cascade County Shooting Sports Invitational will be held January 12, 2019.  Registration must be post marked by January 4, 2019. 

Registration for the 2018-2019 Cascade County 4-H Archery Shooting Sports POSTAL Tournament must be recieved by January 11, 2019.

Choteau County Archery Shoot

This invitational is traditionally held in mid to early February in Flathead County, MT.

Lake County Air Rifle & Air Pistol Shoulder Match

The 1st ever Lake County 4-H Air Rifle and Air Pistol competition will be held (TBD) in Ronan.

Lewis & Clark Invitational

This event is traditionally held in early February in Big Timber, MT.

National 4-H Invitational

The National 4-H Invitational Shooting Sports Tournament usually occurs in mid to late June. Participants must qualify at the Montana Shooting Sports Tournament in early March, or at specific events for archery, muzzle loading, shotgun, and hunting.
